My brother-in-law, Lt. Rafael A. Du Breuil, after 63 missions with the 16th FIS, transferred to the 36th FBS on November 26, 1951. On his first mission with the 36th, was MIA on November 27, 1951. We are always anxious to read and hear of experiences of other family members.

I was a "grunt" with the 36th:57-58. I was there when we transitioned to the F-100. Does anyone out there remember the F-100 taking the wing of a gooney bird? It has been so long that I can no longer remember the pilot's name. When he landed, the bird (F-100) had a damaged wing slat. He said, "I think I hit a bird." The flight line chief said, "Yes sir, you hit a gooney bird." The pilot was put in another aircraft and sent up. the three people on the "gooney" were killed. No chance to get out. I watched from the flight line. The severed wing reminded me of a maple seed pod spinning to the ground.

My uncle is Maj. Richard McNees of the 36th. He went missing in action on July 18, 1950. This is a very informative site. Thanks.

Your website sure brought back lots of memories, I served at Suwon AB (K-13) in '52 and '53 with the 802nd Aviation Engineers. Some of my friends were on that Globemaster that went down at Tachikawa.

Although I was a member of the 51th FIG (25th FIS) at K-13 from Oct. '52 until July '53, I enjoyed viewing your web site. It brought back a lot of memories -- some good, some not so good.

Jim: Thanks for your letter alerting me to your fantastic web site. It has allowed me to relive those days of 1952-1953 when I was privileged to fly the F-80 and the F-86 with the 36th Fighter-Bomber Squadron in Korea.

Jim, thanks for a truly marvelous job you've done with your web sites on the 36th FBS. Because of your efforts, I've been able to learn a great deal about my uncle, Raoul Mouton, and the people he served with. Your uncle, Jim Escalle, would be very proud of your tributes. Keep up the great work.

My uncle was Lt Jack Mayo, originally from Decatur MS. My Mother (Betty Mayo Comegys) is his sister. Lt Mayo died during a test flight over the Gulf of Mexico in the early 1960's. This was before I was born and I do not have a lot of information about Lt Mayo. If anyone has other photos or information, I would dearly love it if you would be kind enough to share with me. Memory for me, I was a child in 1955 and the Dutch Air Force flew the F-86K Sabre. For me in that time a very beautiful airplane. And now 2008, I am 58 years old and still have memories of that airplane and with respect for all pilots. Greetings. Hans ten Oever www.hto-energietechniek.nl
